The ICC T20 World Cup 2016 is slowly but surely creeping upon us and the event is scheduled to take place in India in March-April 2016. The event will have 14 nations competing for the coveted trophy. 2007 T20 winner India will be hosting the event this time and they were also the finalists in the last event.

Topmost players from all over the world come to play Indian Premier League. Till now we have witnessed 8 seasons of IPL and now everyone is gearing up for 9th season of IPL. 9th season is scheduled in April-May. Before IPL in March, India will also host ICC T20 World Cup. IPL 9 will consist 8 teams which include Kolkata, Pune, Rajkot, Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Vivo IPL 9 is scheduled between 9th April to 29th May. IPL Season 9 Teams– Many issues regarding spot fixing were raised against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. On 14th July 2015, these two teams were suspended for two years for spot fixing. So two new teams Pune and Rajkot will replace CSK and RR for 9th and 10th season of IPL. So with inclusion of Pune and Rajkot, we have list of 8 teams participating in IPL 2016.

IPL 9 Player List- Many players this time will be there in auction since two teams were suspended by court. So all these players will be there to find their new team which include Dhoni, Smith, Rahane and many more. On 15th December, two new teams will pick 5 players from CSK and RR. So as soon as the drafting and auctions are over, Player list will be updated.

Many players will be seen in auction this year since players from Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will have to find their new team for minimum next two years. These two teams had players like MS Dhoni, Steve Smith, Brendon McCullum, R Ashwin, Ravi Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and much more. So IPL 2016 Auction is expected to be one of the entertaining auction. IPL 9 Auction is scheduled to take place on 6th February in Bangalore. The two new teams will have minimum purse of 40 crores and maximum of 66 crores to pick their players. The IPL will kick start from 9th April. This means players will have gap of only five days between World Cup and IPL.

The ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 will be launched at the St Regis hotel in Mumbai on Friday, 11 December, at 1200 (India time).

The event will be attended by ICC Chairman Mr Shashank Manohar, ICC Chief Executive Mr David Richardson and BCCI Secretary Mr Anurag Thakur.

Following the unveiling of the groups, schedule and other event-related details, there will be a panel discussion, which will also involve India batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, and will be emceed by former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar.

The country known mostly for baseball and basketball has huge potential for sports and the the ICC want to milk that opportunity in tying to popularize the game of cricket.

The 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand attracted a lot of US audience and a lucrative broadcast deal is worth big money to the ICC, according Tim Anderson, head of global development of the cricket’s governing body .

“If we continue to make good progress, we would (hope to) see a World Twenty20 in the USA in the next rights cycle," Anderson told the Sydney Daily Telegraph, with 2024 as the likely date according to the Telegraph.

"We think that'd be a great concept. Other sports have done that, not just football, but rugby are doing that with major events as well so we see that as a medium-term goal."

India will be hosts for the upcoming T20 Wold Cup in 2016, and Australia will host the next in 2020. Bringing the shorter version of the game to USA is a long term goal Anderson is aiming at and he says that the goal of popularizing cricket is well and truly under way.

"In the shorter term, our full members are keen to play some big cricket in the USA. I think that'd be a fantastic way to take cricket to a new heartland for the game," said Anderson.

"There's already an ODI-accredited venue in Florida (and another potential site in Indianapolis) but, within the next 12-18 months, you could potentially have full members playing cricket (one-day internationals) in the USA.”

As India is set to host the sixth T20 World Cup in 2016, ICC has come out with the tournament’s logo.The Twenty20 World Cup is to be held from March 11 to April 3 next year. 

 The International cricket council (ICC) had its first meeting in Dubai on the 28th of January, 2015 at their headquarters and India was given the rights to host the tournament. India will be hosting the tournament for the first time without any collaboration. 

The tournament will feature 16 teams, including associate nations. There will be 10 full member teams who will qualify automatically. They will later be joined by the six Associate Members who qualified through the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, which was played in Ireland and Scotland.

The qualifying teams are, Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman.

The top eight teams will get direct qualification to the Super eights. The bottom two teams will join the Associate Members to qualify for the qualification round. The 14 teams will be divided into two groups.

However in October 2015 Shahryar Khan, who is the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had stated that if the Pakistan-India series in winter didnt work out, they will not participate in the Twenty20 World Cup 2016. But they happen to be a part of the full member teams.

The ICC also announced that Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamshala, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, Kolkata and New Delhi are the cities to host the tournament. Much cricised Kolkata stadium, Eden Gardens will be the venue for the final match of the tournament.
