West Indies Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016
Its time to unveil the West Indies Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016. Having previously won the T20 World Cup Trophy in 2012, West Indies will look to add another of it in their trophy cabinet. With the likes of Chris Gayle, Darren Bravo, Darren Sammy and Marlon Samuels, it would be a plus point for both the team and the fans, who would be expecting an exciting and action-packed campaign from West Indies.

Under the expected captaincy of Jason Holder, who also captained this year’s World Cup squad, it would be a thing to watch whether the team could carry the same zeal in them, or disappointed with their performance, this time. It is likely that the team would probably come with the same squad as of the World Cup. A look at the West Indies Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016:

West Indies Team’s Strengths for ICC T20 World Cup 2016

Much of the team’s strength lies in the duo of Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels, the same duo which single-handedly took the entire team to the door of victories in various matches in the World Cup. All-rounder Andre Russell, the equivalent of James Faulkner of Australia, could also prove as one of the strongest link to the team due to his ability to excel in both the departments (batting and bowling).

Team’s Weaknesses for ICC T20 World Cup 2016

Team’s inability to hold the opposing batsmen in the last few overs could lead the team to the path of defeats. Owing to the lack of squad depth and experience of winning matches, it would be tough for the men in maroon to lead the team to the winning ways with ease.

West Indies Key Players for ICC T20 World Cup 2016

Batting: Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy, Darren Bravo, and Andre Russell. Bowling: Jason Holder, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell. With no Sunil Narine, it’d be interesting to watch, how the team comes to perform in this tournament. With many of the players, playing in the IPL, the Indian pitch may be quite easy for them. Though, they are a team that no one can rule out of the competition easily.

When it comes to T20 World Cup, one cannot ignore the former champions of the tournament, who stole the show in 2010 edition by crushing the Kangaroos in the final. England Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016 looks competitive all over again.

England’s T20 Team’s Strengths

Having won the Ashes recently would be a boost to their morale, especially when the Australia Team Squad (Kangaroos) are the present World Champions. With the team confidence lifted up after the tests, they can certainly be hopeful for the limited overs format under Eoin Morgan’s leadership. Joe Root will be another batsman to watch out for in this campaign. Moeen Ali is vital too with his threatening off spin.

England T20 Team’s Weaknesses

England have to maintain their consistency, the lack of which has always proven fatal for them. Though they have the best batsmen, their failure to adapt to the foreign conditions and create wonders in every match has cost them big time, as a matter of fact.

Key Players of England Team for T20 World Cup 2016

The Eoin Morgan and Root are capable of making a dent in the opposition. Adil Rashid too can leave a mark. Jos Butler with his all-round skills, can always be a surprising and effective asset in the team. Well, as we wait for March 2016 for the World Cup to commence, it will be exciting to see this team going with all its strength and pride that it earned by creating this game. All its faults aside, we love watching this team compete with dedication in major tournaments.

Bangladesh Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016
Bangladesh: The rising stars to look out for in T20 WC 2016: “Bangladesh Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016” The astonishing rise of Bangladesh in these couple of years, has taken everyone by storm. With the marvelous performances of Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hassan and Rubel Hossain, Bangladesh reached the quarter-final stage for the first time ever in their history.

The miraculous form of Bangladesh has also silenced many critics. With the same attitude, Bangladesh also went on to register their first bilateral series win over South Africa and also their fourth successive series triumph at home. After achieving such feats, Bangladesh would now look forward to clinch their first major trophy- 2016 T20 World Cup. The fans would expect the same display of show Bangladesh presented in this year’s World Cup.

No major change is expected in T20 World Cup’s squad for the next year, as all the players seem to be perfectly fit to carry out the job of leading a successful campaign in India next year. Here you can read about the probable Bangladesh Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016:

  • Imrul Kayes

  • Shakib Al-Hassan
  • Rubel Hossain
  • Taijul Islam
  • Tamim Iqbal
  • Taskin Ahmed

TEAM’S STRENGTHS:

The batting side of Bangladesh has much to offer with the likes of Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar. Their abilities to score runs with ease set them apart. For the bowling side, Rubel Hossain and Shakib Al-Hassan would be the plus points. The team’s spirit of giving collective performances can make them beat any team of the world during ICC T20 World Cup.

TEAM’S WEAKNESSES:

Lack of experience and less numbers of winning games are the weaknesses of this team. There are also only a few experienced players, so, with a new set of players, it would be a risky challenge for them in the tournament. Also, due to many short-height batsmen in the team, the opposing bowlers would look to bounce out them.

KEY PLAYERS:

Batting: Sabbir Rahman, Mahmadullah, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Soumya Sarkar. Bowling: Rubel Hossain, Shakib Al-Hassan, Tamim Iqbal. They are the unexpected stars and they would be definitely giving us a surprising performance in this tournament too.

Zimbabwe Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016

One of the least talked or concerned team, and sometimes underrated too, is Team Zimbabwe, which is contesting in this tournament with all new hopes and ambitions. Let’s see what they “Zimbabwe Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016” have to offer us.

Predicted Zimbabwe Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016

  • Elton Chigumbura (captain)
  • Chamu Chibhabha
  • Sikandar Raza
  • Sean Williams
  • Richmond Mutumbami

  • Hamilton Masakadza
  • Chris Mpofu
  • Taurai Muzarabani
  • Graeme Cremer
  • Luke Jongwe
  • John Nyumbu
  • Prosper Utseya

Zimbabwe T20 Team’s Strengths

The team’s senior members are its strength. With the inclusion of Elton Chigumbara and Prosper Utseya, the team will have its mentors to look up to. Chigumbara would probably be the one to captain his side. The all-rounder has played more than 150 ODIs and when it comes to limited overs format, Zimbabwe will have their experienced man. Sikandar Raza and Hamilton Masakadza can be reliable too in important tournaments.

Zimbabwe T20 Team’s Weaknesses

Zimbabwe hardly gets to play in big tournaments and that can be said as the side’s weakest point. With no experience in major tournaments, the atmosphere and pressure usually seems alien to them and by the time they adapt themselves to the scenario, they are knocked out. To add to the misery, often they are placed with stronger teams in the group stages which makes the situation even worse. Even though there is a chance of them being putting up in some easy group, their lack of experience in T20 World Cups still remains as an obstacle.

Key Players of Zimbabwe Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016

Captain Chigumbara and Sikandar Raza can make matches worth watching. Chigumbara’s experience can help the team shine. Inclusion of players like Jongwe, Cremer and Nyumbu can bring fresh ideas and actions to the team. The biggest mistake of the big teams would be to underestimate this African side, which may prove a nightmare for oppositions.

The team which has won the prestigious Cricket World Cup five times (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015). Yes! You guessed it right! We are talking about the mighty team Australia.

The Australian fans have everything to cheer about. From team’s batting to bowling and fielding, everything is well-organized and nothing could stop the Kangaroos to add another title and give their fans some action moments, if they tread upon the Indian grounds in full might. The team will look forward to bolster their squad in order to clinch their first ever T20 World Cup trophy most probably under the captaincy of Steve Smith.

Let’s sneak a look at Australia’s probable squad (Australia Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016):

PROBABLE SQUAD OF TEAM AUSTRALIA:

Here we come with Australia Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016:
  • Steve Smith (c)
  • George Bailey
  • Aaron Finch
  • David Warner
  • Shane Watson
  • Brad Haddin (wk)
  • Mitchell Johnson
  • Mitchell Stark
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • James Faulkner
  • Josh Hazelwood
  • Pat Cummins
  • Nathan Lyon

TEAM’S STRENGTHS:

Both batting and bowling side of the Kangaroos have already proven themselves in this year’s World Cup. In the batting department, David Warner’s, Steve Smith’s, Glenn Maxwell’s and all-rounders James Faulkner’s and Shane Watson’s hot-forms would suffice for the World Champions to make a huge target. In the bowling department, the wicket-taking deliveries of the trio ‘Mitchells’- Stark, Johnson and Marsh, along with James Faulkner and all-rounder Shane Watson, would fall heavily like Thor’s hammer upon the opposition.

TEAM’S WEAKNESSES:

Taking a glance at the current scenario of the Australian cricket team, there seems no sign of weakness in the squad. With each player in the best of his form, the only concern which should scare the Kangaroos would be team’s fitness. Team Australia would despise the injury to any of their in-form players as it could prove to be the weakest link for them.

KEY PLAYERS:

Batting: David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Shane Watson and James Faulkner. Bowling: Mitchell Stark, Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson, James Faulkner and Josh Hazelwood. When they come with full force on the ground, it’s like hell unleashed with only destruction of their opponent team on their agenda. Beware!!! The Mighty Aussies are returning.

Eden Gardens Cricket Ground, Kolkata – T20 World Cup 2016
One of the venues of the T20 World Cup 2016 is the prestigious Eden Gardens cricket ground Kolkata, where the final game will be held. With the T20 World Cup right ahead of us, fans are at fever pitch. And the excitement just doubles with the knowledge of the tournament being held in India. Venues have been announced too and, needless to say, our expectations are quite high from all our favorite teams.

Eden Gardens Cricket Ground, Kolkata “A Short Review”

Eden Gardens, the name itself brings to our minds the images of passion, glory and celebration. We have had amazing moments at this stadium, which is the largest cricket stadium in India, and the third largest in the world. With a capacity of eye-widening 66,349, this Kolkata-based stadium has been called “Cricket’s Answer to The Colosseum”. That itself is enough to tell what an iconic status this stadium has in the Cricket World.

The crowd of this stadium is known to be one of the liveliest and happening crowds ever. Passion flows in the veins of the cluster of people who swarm up and are immersed severely in the emotion of the game. Because of this, there have been some notorious incidents too when the crowd had lost its cool, creating tension in the atmosphere. Cricketers too love to walk on the pitch of this stadium. Here we go with the stats of Eden Gardens Cricket Ground, Kolkata.

Eden Gardens Cricket Ground, Kolkata Stats

This ground has been a favorite for Indians also because of its historic moments. In 1991, Kapil Dev got a hat-trick against Sri Lanka in an ODI match, The spinner of Indian cricket team Harbhajan Singh too got a hat-trick against the Australians. VVS Laxman scored the highest ever on the ground, 281 against Australia in a test match.

Some players will have an advantage when they will come on this pitch, as Indian Premier League’s team Kolkata Knight Riders has given many international players like Morkel and Bangladeshi player Shakib Al Hasan chances to showcase themselves on the home ground of the team. Morkel had a good wicket-taking spell too, enough to count him as a threat on Eden. So all in all, one cannot say that it will be a one-sided game, which only makes the tournament worth waiting for.

Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi – T20 World Cup 2016
Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi – T20 World Cup 2016: Patience is the test of love, and who knows it better than a cricket fan, who’s counting days since eternity for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2016 in India? Series apart, performances apart, when it comes to World Cups, fans have this tendency of developing all new hopes and ambitions, no matter how crappy their team plays at the moment.

Though Indian fans do have a strong hope for their Men in Blue to snatch the trophy back again on their home soil next year, the visiting teams are not going to give an inch space also. And when one of the venues is Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, the fans have all the right to hope for the team to perform amazingly well there. Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi – T20 World Cup 2016 stats are as under:

Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi – T20 World Cup 2016

With its 41,820 seating-capacity, Feroz Shah Kotla offers not only a marvelous view, but also extremely huge home support. The crowd comes together in all their fervor and emotion to such an extent that you can actually feel the game. And undoubtedly, it is for the same reason that India has been undefeated since 2000 in test matches on this ground.

This stadium has seen big feats, such as Kumble’s 10-wickets in an innings against Pakistan, and Sachin Tendulkar’s 35th test-century to become the batsman with most international Test centuries, after beating Sunil Gavaskar. West Indies have made the highest ODI score here, which was an enormous 330 for 8 in the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Most ODI runs here are scored by Sachin Tendulkar, which is a giant total of 300.

Well, it will be an amusing challenge for all the sides, who’d want to crush Indian team amidst a huge fan support on this ground. Also, it will be interesting to see how much the IPL-experience will help the players also.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai – T20 World Cup 2016
March 2016 will be a month to live at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai for T20 World Cup 2016. TVs would only be switched on for sports channels, sofas would never be empty, and eyes will be waiting for that winning moment during the last overs. Yes! T20 World Cup is back, and this time it’s in India.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai – T20 World Cup 2016 is one of the venues of the tournament matches. The 33,108-capacity stadium is particularly known for India’s innings in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lankan team, when they had won the title, after Indian skipper Dhoni lofted the ball beyond the boundary for the match-winning six. It was also the ground where Master Blaster Sachin had played the last match of his international career.

Jubilation at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai During T20 World Cup 2016

The crowd of Wankhede can be seen with Dhol Tashas while they cheer for Indian cricket team, and particularly for Sachin. The stadium has a stand named after him – Sachin Tendulkar Stand. The crowd is more jubilant during IPL, during a Mumbai Indians match. Wankhede Stadium is also the home ground of the Mumbai Indians. Here I wanna share some stats about Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai for T20 World Cup 2016.

Wankhede has recently also seen South Africa’s one-day innings of 438/4 against India, which is also the highest ODI total there. The lowest was Bangladesh’s 110 all-out by India in 1998. Sachin has the record of most ODI runs here, 455 runs. AB de Villers and Malinga are the most cheered international batsman and bowler here.

It will be interesting to watch the match when the Indians will clash against their IPL teammates who are an expert on Wankhede’s pitch. Dhol Tashas and chants would have their volume reach all the seven skies when the atmosphere will be set on the tunes of the World Cup.

The stadium is located in the city of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, which is also known as the home of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. The fans would surely love the location as the stadium is situated at an altitude of 1,457 m (4,780 ft. 2 in) above sea level and is surrounded by beautiful mountains encrusted with the snow in the background. There are many obstacles which a fan must face before reaching this splendid stadium which holds the seating capacity of 23,000- hilly terrains. It’s also the same reason why HPCA Stadium is the witness to only a few international matches. During his tenure, Dav Whatmore, the former director of Indian National Cricket Academy, stated that HPCA Stadium is suitable for hosting international matches.

The first ODI was played between India and England in January 2013, which England won by 7 wickets. The second ODI was played between India and West Indies on 17th October 2014 in which India beat the West Indies by 59 runs.

Vidarbha Cricket Stadium – T20 World Cup 2016 (Stats)

Vidarbha has seen some finest performances of teams and players. Bailey had seemed to learn the ground’s nature by heart when he struck 156 against India in 2013-14 in ODI. Mitchell Johnson (Australia Cricket Team) too made friends with the pitch with his wonderstruck bowling against New Zealand in 2011 with a resounding figure of 4 wickets for 33 runs. Be it the Kiwis or the Lankans, this pitch has favored all the teams over the years.

Well, we have all the reasons to go insane over T20 World Cup 2016. We can sure hope to see some fast innings and amazing bowling spells, as we inch to the start of the T20 tournament. With the likes of Gayle (West Indies), De Villers (South Africa) and Pakistani cricket player Afridi, anything can happen this game is going to be all the more unpredictable. That’s all about Vidarbha Cricket Stadium – T20 World Cup 2016.

New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016
In all its zeal and giddiness the T20 World Cup 2016 will be commencing on March 11 next year. Here we got New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016. Fans as well as pundits are bidding on their favorite teams and have started talking about the various possibilities of the tournament. Eyes are also set on the team of New Zealand, who were marvelous in their fabulous performance in Cricket World Cup 2015. Though they couldn’t outplay the Kangaroos in the final, the Black Caps were at their best. This time the Kiwis may surprise many, cause with the team squad they have, it seems like nothing’s out of their reach.

Let’s have a look at who the Kiwis (New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016) are bringing along.

Predicted New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016

New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016:
  1. Brendan McCullum (captain)
  2. Martin Guptill
  3. Kane Williamson
  4. Ross Taylor
  5. Corey Anderson
  6. Luke Ronchi
  7. Mitchell Santner
  8. Nathan McCullum
  9. Trent Boult
  10. Adam Milne
  11. Tim Southee
  12. Doug Bracewell
  13. James Neesham
  14. Ben Wheeler
  15. Colin Munro

Kiwis Team’s Strengths

New Zealand can rely pretty much on their highly effective and impact-full batting line up. With the likes of Guptill and Williamson in the team, the confidence and stability would likely be high, given their recent superb form, particularly in the World Cup 2015. No need to describe their excellent Captain Brendan McCullum’s extraordinary talent and incredibly explosive batting, because when he’s on fire, the opponents just shatter and crumble. Their bowlers are top notch too, Southee and Boult are one pair from hell.

Kiwis Team’s Weaknesses

There is likely no noticeable weakness in the team. But it would be better if the team works on its spinners, who may prove effective game-turners. Nathan McCullum is a choice but at the moment, he isn’t much of a threat. Their over reliance on their Captain can become a liability for the middle order.

New Zealand Team Squad ICC T20 World Cup 2016’s Key Players

Guptill, Williamson and the talisman McCullum are the important team assets. The Kiwis are this time, one action packed squad. Their run in the last World Cup should be enough evidence that they are not to be taken for granted in the coming competition.

Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the final of the World Twenty20 next year, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) said on Tuesday.

The 2016 event will be the sixth edition of the popular tournament that began in 2007. The last tournament was won by Sri Lanka in Bangladesh in 2014.

Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamshala, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi will be the other venues for the March 11-April 3 event, the board said in a statement.

These venues will host matches subject to fulfilling the prescribed requirements of the ICC and the Indian board while adhering to the statutory obligations that are mandatory for hosting an international match," the statement added.

"With this announcement, we have begun our preparations in right earnest. We want this World Twenty20 to be a memorable experience for our participants and fans.

"I am confident that all the venues nominated will deliver a world class event."

As the name suggests, the event is organized by ICC or International Cricket Council, the principal governing body in world cricket. The participating teams are a total of 12 in number, with ten of them being the permanent members of ICC, while the remaining two are chosen by the ICC through qualifier matches for the event.

Twenty20 World Cup
England and Pakistan can each lay down a marker for next year's World Cup by winning their upcoming three-match Twenty20 series, says David Lloyd.

The teams face each other in the opener in Dubai at 4pm on Sky Sports 2 this Thursday following England's 3-1 ODI series victory.

With conditions in the UAE expected to be spin-friendly, Lloyd says it gives each side the perfect opportunity to hone their skills ahead of the World T20, which begins in March.

He said: "I think England are going to be very competitive in the World Cup given the way that things have come together in ODI cricket - and then to move it forward to T20. If I was in that England squad or management I'd be very excited.

"I bet Pakistan are also looking forward to the World T20. It's always nice to win and I think this series is going to be played in a great environment.

"The matches have an 8pm [local time] start; there should be full houses. This is a good examination of both teams. "We know what the pitches are like - they are very batsman-friendly. I think both teams have got every chance to show what they can do.

"Shahid Afridi is back for Pakistan - he's as old as me! I think this is a last hurrah for him. He's such an explosive batsman and he's a very good bowler in one-day cricket. He's a real crowd pleaser."

Watch Pakistan take on England in the first of three T20 internationals from 3.30pm on Sky Sports 2 this Thursday.

Chris Gayle eyes T20 World Cup
The former West Indies captain who was in the city as brand ambassador for the Kerala Cricket League spoke to WCLU on Thursday.

Gayle, who has been out of action for quite a while now since undergoing a surgery to get rid of a long-standing back injury, said his next international match would be the T20 World Cup. "I will be playing the Big Bash though, but as far as international matches are concerned it will be the T20 World Cup next year," he said.

The left-handed explosive batsman couldn't have asked for a better venue than India which has been his favourite hunting ground.

"Oh yeah," he said as he smacked his lips. "I'm looking forward to the T20 World Cup as it is being played in India which is my favourite hunting ground. "It should be a fantastic tournament. We all know what T20 is like so lets see which team will come out on top at the end of the day."

When pushed to answer whether his Test career was at a crossroad, he said, "I would love to play Test matches next year. As of now I can't push myself into Test cricket as I feel I'm not fully there after the surgery."

So would he like to prolong his career in either Tests or 50 overs or T20s like some of the players including Pakistan's Younis Khan (retired from ODIs) and Shoaib Malik (retired from Tests) have done in recent past.

The 36-year-old's reply was. "It all depends on how an individual feels at a particular time. Those guys (Younis) and (Malik) have played a lot of cricket. These things can take a toll on your body so it is only a matter of time when you have to decide to take a call on your playing career.

"Whether it's Test cricket or 50 overs at the end of the day we all have to walk away from the game at some point in time. In my case I'm still looking to play some more international matches in all formats but it's all about fitness. I'm not getting any younger so I need to know how to cope with it. I will have to monitor my body and make a decision."

Gayle refused to be drawn into the controversies surrounding West Indies cricket. The current team will be touring Australia next month sans top players like Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo after losing a Test series in Sri Lanka.

"It's going to be difficult to play in Australia as we know how dangerous they are playing in home conditions. They beat us at home. But we have to look and see what the boys can take from the series. They have to be positive and grab the opportunity to present themselves in the best possible way."

The surgery might have restricted his movements on the field but when it comes to music there's nothing to stop the strapping 6 feet 4 inch Jamaican from doing the Gangnam dance.

Legendary batsman and former skipper Javed Miandad on Tuesday lashed out at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), saying that instead of making efforts to make India a sport-loving nation, the BCCI is taking absurd dictations from the Indian government and adopting a ridiculous stance by asking the Pakistan government to initiate talks for resuming bilateral cricket series.

It is pertinent to mention here that BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur in a recent statement had said that Pakistani government should talk to its Indian counterpart for the resumption of Pakistan-India cricket series as it will greatly help in building a conducive atmosphere.

Miandad said it clearly shows how strongly the Indian government influences workings of the BCCI. "The BCCI is not a cricket board but a government's board," he said. "This attitude of India towards other cricketing nations is the beginning of their downfall and the day is not far when India would itself ask Pakistan for a series."
Miandad asked that when Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan recently went to India on BCCI's invitation for a meeting, what protocol or help the BCCI or the Indian government provided to him. "That shows that neither the BCCI nor the Indian government is sincere in resumption of the bilateral cricket series," he said.

Miandad added that BCCI officials have got inflated egos now and their attitudes have changed after getting the status among the big three.

"Before big three the ICC used to issue a 10-year Future Tours Programme for all countries but now we don't see that as it is the big three who decide what all other Boards should do, which is such a shame," he lamented.

He pointed out that if the Ashes series can be played regularly without any ego issues affecting it, why not Indo-Pak series. "It is India which does not want it to happen because they are afraid of losing to Pakistan," he said.

Miandad insisted that Pakistan must boycott the World Twenty20 in India next year.

"If respect really matters to the PCB, then it should not send the team to the World T20," he emphasised. "It is a matter of our country's prestige for which India has no regard." - Agencies
