In a mitting of Asian Cricket Council at Singapore, it is decided the
2016 Asia Cup cricket will held in Bangladesh and that will be 3rd consecutive time this tournament will host by Bangladesh. The Tournament will began from 24th
February after participating 5 teams The Host, Pakistan, India, Sri
Lanka and an associate member which comes through a qualification round.
ACC have decided the upcoming Asia Cup will be in T20 format which will
be the first edition of T20 of this tournament, for the reason of
upcoming T20 World Cup.
In the earliest of Singapore meeting, Asia Cup T20’s host team was
India but BCCI did not agree to host this tournament because they have a
big upcoming tournament, T20 World Cup which will start from March 1st.
On the other hand BCB Chairman Nazmul Hasab Papon says “PCB first
shown the point that next year’s scheduled Asia Cup Cricket tournament
should host by Bangladesh and everyone agreed with his opinion”
4 test Playing nation from Asia will get direct entire and a
qualification round will host among 4 associate member like Oman,
Afghanistan, Hong Kong and UAE in the earlier of December this year. ACC
point out “We also concede the weather condition and a lot of U-19
level cricket held in Dhaka this year among Asian Countries.”
All over this will be the 5th edition host by Dhaka of
this tournament where most previous 2 edition were held Bangladesh
following 2012 and 2014. And Bangladesh where host this tournament at
1998 and 2000 as well.
