BCB announces preliminary T20 squad
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the preliminary squad for the forthcoming international Tweny20 commitments in the year 2016 today.
The selected players will report to National Team Strength & Conditioning Coach Mario Villavarayen at the National Cricket Academy on 03 January, 2016 at 9:30 am, according to the media release issued from BCB.
Abu Haider Rony, who had a terrific BPL-2015 with the ball found a place in the preliminary squad. Hider took 21 wickets from 12 matches, one short of equalling the top-wicket taker in BPL, at an average of 15.04 and economy rate of 6.91. The other uncapped players are batsman Mosaddek Hossain, left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan.
Pacemen Shafiul Islam, Mohammad Shahid and Taskin Ahmed, batsmen Mohammad Mithun and Jahurul Islam and spinners Abul Hasan and Shuvagata Hom have also been included despite not playing T20s for Bangladesh in their last assignment, against Zimbabwe in November.
The chief selector Faruque Ahmed said they had to keep fast bowler Rubel Hossain out of the preliminary squad due to his calf injury and added they don't have opening batsman Rony Talukdar and legspinner Jubair Hossain in their immediate plans.

The Asia Cup for 2016 will be held in Twenty20 format for the first time, will be accommodated in the slot available between February 24 and March 6, 2016.
On March 8, 2016, the ICC World T20 tournament will begin in India where Bangladesh will play three games against Netherlands, Ireland and Oman on 9, 11 and 13 March respectively. If Bangladesh top their group, they will qualify to play the Big Boys later in the competition.

T20 World Cup 2016 Team: Bangladesh Cricket Board selectors have announced a 27 man preliminary sqaud for the Asia Cup 2016 T20 tournament and the ICC World T20 2016. BCB is also working on arranging a three-match or a five-match T20 series with Zimbabwe ahead of the Asia Cup.

The BCB Selectors have named four uncapped players in the Bangladesh squad. Abu Hider, a talented young left-arm seamer, has made it to the Bangladesh squad for the first time. Hider was one of the highest wicket-takers in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He bagged 21 wickets in 12 games at an average of 15.04 and an economy rate of 6.91. Some have stated that he can be as good as Mustafizur Rahman, who was recently named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.

Batsman Mosaddek Hossain, left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan are the other three uncapped players the BCB selectors have picked in the squad.

Rony Talukdar and legspinner Jubair Hossain have been left out of the Bangladesh squad and the chief selector Faruque Ahmed said they do not have any plans of selecting the two players in the immediate future.

Rubel Hossain has also been left out of the preliminary squad. Hossain has been suffering from a calf injury and is yet ot recover.

T20 World Cup 2016 Schedule
The International Cricket Council on Friday announced the schedule for T20 World Cup that is scheduled to be held in India. And guess what, despite the fact that there may be no cricketing ties between India and Pakistan any time soon, the two nations will be playing each other in Dharamsala. 

India is all set to play Pakistan in Dharamsala on March 19, 2016 in the group stage of the tournament. 

India also has Australia and New Zealand in the same group.

The 27-day tournament will be played in the following venues:  Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi.

Mumbai and New Delhi will stage semi-finals while Kolkata will host the finals.

A total number of 58 matches will be played in the tournament. There will be 35 matches for men and 23 matches for women in the tournaments which will be played at eight venues from 8 March to 3 April.

The men’s event will carry a total prize money of $5.6 million, which is an 86 per cent increase from the 2014 tournament, while the total prize money for the women’s event is $400,000, which is a 122 per cent increase from the previous tournament.

 India won the inaugural tournament in the men's category held in South Africa in the year  2007. Sri Lanka is currently the defending champion, who won the 2014 World Cup.

In the women's category, England was the first team to win the tournament in 2009. And the defending champion is Australia. Till now four Women World Cup events have taken place.
