Sriram will be with the Australia team in the lead-up and early stages of the WT20, scheduled to be hosted by India in March 2016.

The former India ODI batsman will join captain Aaron Finch’s men during the three-match T20 tour of South Africa before Hussey returns to the Australian set-up for the first two weeks of the competition.

“We will play three T20 Internationals against South Africa prior to arriving in India and Sriram’s focus will be on getting the players as prepared as possible for what they will face in India,” CA Executive General Manager of Team Performance, Pat Howard said.

“Sriram was a consultant coach with the Australia A side when they travelled to India earlier this year and was due to go to Bangladesh as a consultant prior to the tour being postponed. He has also been working with our National Performance Squad for the past few years,” he added.

The Indian Premier League’s Delhi Daredevils assistant coach Sriram has played eight ODIs for India between 2000 and 2004.

Hussey, the current captain of KFC Big Bash League club Sydney Thunder, has a vast T20 experience that includes stints with Perth Scorchers, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians besides 38 matches for Australia.

Australia will play their opening match of the World T20 against New Zealand in Dharamsala on March 18.

2016 ICC World Twenty20 trophy
The World T20 trophy will visit 12 countries taking part in the tournament which will be staged in India from March 11 to April 3.

The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 trophy will embark on a global journey from in Mumbai on Sunday before returning to New Delhi on February 1 next year.

As part of the Nissan Trophy Tour, the trophy will visit 12 countries taking part in the tournament which will be staged in the country from March 11 to April 3 next.

During its journey, the trophy will be on display at domestic and international matches, as well as at various public places which will enable the fans to capture a special moment with the most prestigious silverware in the shortest format of the world game, the ICC said in a statement.

Details of the trophy’s public appearances will be announced by the host Boards closer to the time.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said: “The Nissan Trophy Tour has been designed to not only promote the tournament but also to engage with our fans and provide them the first opportunity to get close to the trophy, which will be lifted by the winning captain on 3 April in Mumbai.

“We would like to thank Nissan for their sponsorship of the Trophy Tour and we are sure it will be a big success as it travels across the world ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 in India next year,” he said.

Scotland will be the trophy’s first port of call, before it travels to Ireland, England and the Netherlands at part of its European leg.

The trophy’s African safari will be from January 2-7, during which it will make appearances in Harare (January 2 & 3
and Cape Town January 5-7).

Pakistan will be the trophy’s first stop-over in the subcontinent (January 11 & 12), before it moves to Bangladesh (January 14 &15) and then Sri Lanka (January 17 & 18).

On the Trans-Tasman tour, the trophy will arrive in Wellington on January 21 and will then head to Australia on January 26 where it will be displayed in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney until January 31.

From Sydney, the trophy will return to New Delhi on February 1 and will then start its domestic tour by making appearances at each of the venues that will host the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 matches.

Apart from the 10 Test playing countries, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Oman will participate in the men’s event of the tournament. The women’s competition, which will run alongside the men’s event, will be competed between Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies.

Dharamsala has been allotted 10 World T20 matches and considering that the organisers have decided to raise the seating capacity of the stadium by 25 percent. “5,000 more seats shall be added to the present 20,000,” HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma told PTI on Saturday. Sharma said that 30 new rooms with 5 star facilities shall also be added to the Pavilion Hotel to accommodate more international players. Pavilion was constructed earlier by HPCA for the comfortable stay of the players and it already has around 100 rooms. He said the HPCA have already started the construction work. “To make entry of the ticket holders more fool proof turnstile system shall be adopted this time,” said Sharma.

He said that the HPCA will approach Himachal Government for all possible help in the successful organisation of these matches in the state, which shall defiantly increase the tourism many fold because the live telecast will be seen by majority of sports lovers throughout the world. Host India will meet its traditional rival Pakistan on March 19. Besides this high voltage thriller, arch rivals Australia and New Zealand will lock horns a day before.

Dharamsala will also host two Women’s World T20 matches on March 22 and March 24. Six qualifier matches including three of Bangladesh. World T20 2016 will be staged across eight venues in India from March 8 to April 3.

Dharamsala all set to host 10 World T20 matches next year, a HPCA official said on Saturday that it is a proud moment for the state. “It’s a moment of pride and honour that our small state and the HPCA have been allotted eight men’s matches and two women’s in the upcoming T20 World Cup making Dharamsala one of the biggest and most sought after venues in India,” HPCA press secretary Mohit Sood told reporters.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the full schedule of World Twenty20 2016 to be held in India. The event will take place from March 2016 to April 3. 2016. Like major ICC tournaments, World T20 2016 will see women’s competition run besides the men’s one.

World T20 men’s has been divided in two rounds. The first round or qualifying round will see eight teams divided into two groups of four each. One team from each group will then proceed to main draw (second round) or Super10.

Super10 has been divided into groups as well and each group consists of five teams.  Whereas women’s competition has no qualifying round and teams are divided into two groups of five each.

As the uncertainty looms over the much-anticipated bilateral series between India and Pakistan, the two subcontinent sides have been confirmed to renew their rivalry when they will take on each other in the 2016 Twenty20 World Cup on March 19 in Dharamshala. According to the schedule announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday, the World Cup Twenty20 matches will be staged across eight venues in India, starting from March 8 to April 3.
According to the men’s event format, eight sides in two groups of four, will feature in the first round matches with the group winners joining eight sides in the Super 10 stage (two groups of five teams). The top two sides from both the Super 10 Groups will then qualify for the semi-finals. In the women’s event, the 10 sides will be divided into two groups and the top two sides from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

The first round matches in the men’s event will take place in Dharamsala and Nagpur from 8-13 March and will feature Bangladesh, Netherlands, Ireland, debutant Oman (all in Group A), Zimbabwe, Scotland, Hong Kong and Afghanistan (all in Group B). In a double-header on the opening day on 8 March, Zimbabwe will face Hong Kong in the afternoon match, to be followed by the evening match between Scotland and Afghanistan. Both the matches will be played in Nagpur.

The group winners will join Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and host India in the Super 10 stage, which will be played alongside the women’s event from 15-28 March.Host India , who will launch its campaign in Nagpur against New Zealand on March 15, is in Super 10 Group 2 along with 2009 winner Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and the Group A winner.

Pakistan will first play against the Group A winner in Kolkata on March 16, before locking horns with traditional rival India.India’s other matches will be against the Group A winner in Bengaluru on 23 March and Australia in Mohali on 27 March while Pakistan will play their remaining two matches in Mohali against New Zealand and Australia on 22 and 25 March, respectively.

Speaking on the announcement, ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar, said: “India is a country where cricket is a religion and not many places can match the passion for the game like India. I am fully confident that the Board of Control for Cricket in India will deliver an outstanding world cricket event, just like the ICC Cricket World Cups in 1987, 1996 and 2011.Meanwhile, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson also expressed his views and said: “The ICC World Twenty20 is an event which puts the world’s best cricketers in the shortest format of the game against each other in a nation versus nation contest.

“The Twenty20 format provides the perfect vehicle by which the ICC can further globalise the game, providing international exposure and opportunity to our top Associate and Affiliate members. The ICC World Twenty20 event structure is designed to provide highly competitive matches throughout, with eight evenly-matched sides fighting it out in the first round and the best two then getting in the mix with the top eight ranked teams in the Super 10 stage where the intensity and competition will be of the very highest level,”he added.

England, which won the 2010 tournament in the West Indies, takes on 2012 winner the West Indies in Mumbai on 16 March, followed by matches against South Africa (18 March in Mumbai), the Group B winner (23 March in New Delhi) and Sri Lanka (26 March in New Delhi).After taking on England in its tournament opener, the West Indies will square off against Sri Lanka (20 March in Bengaluru), South Africa (25 March in Nagpur) and the Group B winner (27 March in Nagpur).

Men’s defending champion Sri Lanka has been placed in Super 10 Group 1 along with South Africa, West Indies, England and the Group B winner. It will open its title defence against the Group B winner in Kolkata on 17 March, and play West Indies in Bengaluru on 20 March, England in New Delhi on 26 March and South Africa in New Delhi on 28 March.

The ICC World Twenty20 trophy was also present at the ceremony before it leaves Mumbai for Scotland on Sunday, 13 December, as part of the Nissan Trophy Tour. The trophy will return to New Delhi on 1 February after visiting 11 countries.
