Chennai may not host India and Sri Lanka T20 World Cup Matches: Yes, you heard it right ! The historic M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai the home of CSK for IPL which has hosted over 50 T20 matches can miss out to host T20 World Cup match. World Cup is scheduled to be hosted by India between 11th march to 3rd April next year. Eden Gardens of Kolkata has already been declared to host the final of T20 World Cup 2016.
There is no official announcement nor any reason why Chennai could lose out on an India match but it is very likely that ‘Chepauk’ may be compensated with two World T20 matches which will not include India matches. Along with India matches, Chennai will also not host any of Sri Lanka matches due to political issues (Tamil-Sinhala conflict).

The BCCI secretary, Anurag Thakur on Thursday admitted that there were problems related with the MA Chidambaram Stadium due to which the venue was kept pending. He also quoted that Chennai was not ruled out as a venue but accepted that venue has certain limitations
- Cannot play Sri Lanka matches in Chennai due to political scenario
- Three stands of Stadium are out of bounds to spectators.
Another issue is Delhi, which is a major venue is currently in a messy state over tax related issues with state government. So its likely that Delhi can also be axed as T20 World Cup game.
BCCI has already past the deadline to finalize tournament venues. For now, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Chennai, Mohali, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune, Rajkot, Hyderabad and Dharamsala are the venues short-listed as potential venues.
